GET YER VOTE ON!!!

Every 10 minutes or so my phone beeps with a "I voted!!" text. GO AMERICA. Get your vote on and showcase what makes this nation great. No matter what you believe in, believe in something and stand for it.

GIRL TALK - THE HALLOWEEN EDITION

* no driving violations were committed during the filming of this wee chat.

NOT THAT I CLAIM TO BE

I've been a lazy blogger lately. I am also totally okay with that. I am getting in tune with all the ebbing and flowing that happens in life and trying to break my own conventions that dictate a rigid set of rules. The letting go is not easy, but I am learning that the payoff can be huge. Today I got to wander around one of my favorite LA only places, experience the first rain of the season, hang out with a fellow artist and a 14 year old. Then I got chauffeured home and fit in a run to the bank, laundry, cooking (whee! she's loose in the kitchen) and some great after-a-late-dinner-conversation. None of this was planned. It just unfolded.

Inspired by the morning and the light, I shot portraits today. Not anything structured, just point and click with my tiny digital. After uploading the days work, I saw that I had captured some rare moments. I wish I could shoot everyone in my life the way I did today. My subjects let me film them unfiltered. They did not pose. I did not ask to snap their photo. And everything went off without a hitch. It was lovely and intensely personal.

More of this please.

xoxo, wee

HAHAHAHAHAH!!

Thanks Chris! Now EVERYONE GO VOTE!

INBOX DELIGHTS OR WTF -- THE WEDDING EDITION

This was waiting in my inbox:

You are regretfully invited to the wedding between my perfect son the Doctor and some Cheap Two-Bit Tramp whose name escapes me right now. The biggest disaster in my family's history will take place at Saturday September 8th and no doubt end in divorce. Hopefully in time to be eligible for an annulment. The overwhelmingly, disappointing, heartbreak of a ceremony will be followed by dinner, where nuts will be served because whatsherface has an allergy.

Cheers!

* thanks A!

BEDROOM PLAYLIST

My favorite new song has inspired some interesting thinking lately. My girls and I have kicked around the idea of the Ultimate-Get-It-On mix, and plenty of rowdy discussions have ensued. At one point in time I was voting for things like Nada Surf and Damien Rice. We would each lobby for why this particular song HAD TO BE ON THERE. It inevitably ended with us in peals of laughter, surrounded by empty wine bottles. I say now, NO MORE NADA SURF.

I don't have a whole playlist worked out. But I stand firm that the following must be included:

1. Duran Duran, The Chauffeur
2. Kings of Leon, Sex on Fire
3. The Reverend Al Green, Love and Happiness
4. Tricky, Hell is around the Corner
5. Portishead, Roads

What's on your list?

CURRENT ANTHEM

It's been a few weeks now and this is still my favorite new song, ever. It's good ol' American Rock and I love it. Bawdy lyrics, loads of guitar, and one hot lead singer with a voice on the verge of breaking. I give you, The Kings of Leon - Sex on Fire.

XOXO, YOUR GAY HUSBAND

MGH: "Wouldn't it be HILARIOUS if one day accidentally we dressed exactly the same!?"

WEE: "That would be huge."

* this same week all the girls wore black button down shirts, dark wash denim and black ballet flats. I am convinced it's something in the water.
